-=Introduction=- Hello, and welcome to the Guide To Game and Watch Gallery. This will help you out in the Gameboy game, Game and Watch Gallery.
You might of thought that Gameboy was Nintendo's first portable system. Wrong! In the early '80s, Nintendo released a series of LCD games called Game and Watch. Mario and Link even had their own Game and Watch game! Four of the games were Manhole, Fire, Octopus, and Oil Panic.
In Manhole, you must keep up with the moving pedestrians and don't allow them to fall through the empty manhole covers! Manhole was released in 1980 and again 1983.
In Fire, you must catch the people jumping from the burning building and bounce them into the ambulance. Fire was released in 1980 and again in 1981.
In Octopus, you must dive into the water and bring back treasure from the sunken ship, although the giant octopus doesn't want you to do that. Octopus was released in 1981.
In Oil Panic, catch the dripping oil and drop it into your partner's bucket out the window. Oil Panic was released in 1982
Nintendo has managed to bring these games onto one Gameboy cartridge. You can choose from Modern, or Classic. The Classic versions have all original graphics and are just like the real ones. The Modern versions have smoother gameplay, all new graphics, new additions to them, and music! This is just one of those "brings back the classics" games. It has an automatic save feature that can save your best scores!
On the Game Select screen, press left and right to view what milestone scores achieved for each game. Each milestone achieved will be displayed by a star. The top row of milestone stars is for the Modern mode, the lower row is for the Classic mode. You get a star by getting 200 points. Collect five stars in each game to reveal a secret! Collect a certain number of points to access the Gallery Corner. The Gallery Corner allows you to see classic Game and Watch games. Game and Watch Gallery also has a feature called Interrupt Save. While playing a game, press START to pause, and turn the game off. When you turn the game on again, you can continue the previous game you were playing.
-=News=-
This is where you'll find the latest news on Game and Watch Gallery or it will tell what's new to the FAQ.
- Nintendo has announced that Game and Watch Gallery 2 will be coming to Gameboy soon! When I get the game, I'll put the FAQ of it on here. I've also added the Hints and Tips section. I don't have any right now though.
- Added an "Octopus" tip.
- Added how to erase your game in the Hints and Tips section.
-=Manhole=-
Classic Four manholes, one cover. When the pedestrian walks over the hole, you must stop their fall by holding the cover in place.
Modern There are four manholes and covers, but every time a pedestrian walks onto a cover, it falls. You must keep the manhole covers in place so the pedestrians won't fall.
Controls Control Pad - move left, right, up and down A Button - move diagonally B Button - not used START - pause
-=Fire=-
Classic When the people jump, bounce them into the ambulance. People jump from the third and fourth floors of the building. On Easy, they only jump from the fourth floor.
Modern Bounce the characters into the mushroom ambulance. They will all jump from the same place, but they behave differently. When you find an egg, catch it and the item inside will come out. If it's a star, deliver it to the ambulance. If it's a Bob-omb, don't take it to the ambulance, it will count as a miss. Sometime, Princess Toadstool will come out of the castle and throw a heart. Retrieve it to clear a miss.
ControlsPad - move left and right A Button - move right B Button - move left START - pause
-=Octopus=-
Classic Dive into the water and avoid the tentacles. When you get some of the treasure, take it back to the boat.
Modern If you get more than one treasure at a time, you'll slow down. If you get trapped, throw your treasure at the tentacle, it will stay away for a while. After a lot of treasure is returned, Lakitu will come and throw a heart. As you know, retrieve to clear a miss.
Controls Control Pad - move left, right, up and down. Press right at the chest to pick some treasure up. A Button - move right, get treasure B Button - throw away treasure (Modern mode only) START - pause
-=Oil Panic=-
Classic Catch the oil dripping from the ceiling with a bucket, and dump into your partner's bucket below. Your bucket can only hold three drops. Don't let the oil drip on the floor, or it will catch on fire. Also, don't drop it on the people below.
Modern You have a bucket in both hands. You can press the A or B Buttons to spin around. Again, don't let it drop on the floor, and be careful you don't dump it all over Luigi or Donkey Kong Jr. If you dump six drops of oil to Yoshi before he changes sides and a block will appear. Get enough blocks for something special.
Controls Control Pad - move left and right and to dump your oil out the window A Button - spin (Modern mode only) B Button - spin (Modern mode only) START - pause
-=Hints and Tips=- These are hints and tips for Game and Watch Gallery.
First of all, if you want to erase your game, press these buttons at the title screen: Up, up, down, down, left, left, right, right. Octopus - Go down and avoid the Octopus' arms and take six pieces of treasure if you have to you do it in some stages. For example, if one arm is about to get you and you're at the treasure box getting treasure and you only get four pieces avoid the arms and go in a safe place under water, and then go back to the treasure chest while the arms are up and finish getting the last two pieces of treasure. Then go back to the boat and keep repeating this. Remember to throw treasure if you get stuck. (Thanks to Neil Goodman, goodman2@user1.channel1.com
