"IMAGINATION IS GREATER THAN KNOWLEDGE"

[Albert Einstein]

I agree 100% with Albert Einstein's quote: "Imagination is Greater Than Knowledge". If you were to use your imagination [more] and in concert with all the facts and figures you've learned, in various ways throughout your life, you'd be far more successful than someone who depends solely upon what they've been told to believe; the absolutes, as it were.

Thank goodness Albert Einstein did. Studies have said that we do not use 93%+ of our mental capacity. My conclusion, based upon that statement, would be that that's where your imagination is hiding and why it may be stagnant.

Let me put that another way. Do you know someone with degrees up the ying-yang? Now, think about that very same person and how much common sense they have. I have known many a person with degree upon degree hanging on their walls and initials behind their names; something that has struck me, as a seemingly common denominator of many of these people, has been that they were lacking in the one thing that everyone hopefully can demonstrate, an imagination.

Applicable buzz word(s) might include "Thinking Outside the Box"; i.e., using your imagination, your common sense, your instinct. Try and reassess your value system! Use your imagination and you will soar to heights you've never dreamed of. Just for a moment, let go of the idea that your job is everything and that without it you will lose all that you have worked so hard for; i.e., material possessions. Now stop and think about what is truly important to you and then reflect on where you are in your life today and why you make the decisions you make. Are your decisions based upon "image" and what other people think? If so, reconsider your position. You may be painting yourself into a corner of not being able to unleash your creative instinct and use your imagination.

Did you know that a by-product of the imagination of the great Alexander Graham Bell; i.e., AT&T/Lucent, has a building complex where they actively develop and encourage the imagination of their scientists and engineers? How do they do that? They provide them with a "PLAYROOM"! In this playroom, the geniuses employed there are given full rein to play with trains and other toys. I kid you not! The reason, you ask?

To enhance their creativity. In the halls of this building, you will see people walking backwards, people wearing shirts inside out and so forth.

Now, there's a lesson... not to judge a book by its cover. If you have your own business, you have already shown creativity but in the process has something been lost in all the detail? Have you become so bogged down with the daily routine that you've forgotten how to break things down, take a step back and reevaluate what's working and what's not.

If so, stop what you are doing and play. Try bringing out your creative side. If you keep doing the same thing over and over and then ask yourself what's wrong, here's something to consider. If you do "A" and you get "B" why would you think that if you continue to do "A" that your result will be anything different than "B"? Test, test and test again.

If you've tried something and it doesn't work try it at a different time, a different place, rewrite it, resubmit it and follow-up. Instead of waiting for something to change, you can change it. You can make something happen! For every action there is a reaction, agreed? And sometimes that reaction may appear not to be a reaction, when it actually is... it is the reaction of no action and/or response.

For instance, if you were to place an ad today and then you didn't get any response, consider all the factors that are at play; i.e., place, time of year, text; Does it grab your prospects?; Does it present the benefits of what it is you're selling and not the features? After evaluating all the possibilities, sometimes change is an appropriate reaction but other times patience is!

Learning to gauge the difference is well worth your effort. Try not to depend solely on things you "think" you've learned. Grasp the understanding that life and business are dynamic; continuously changing and active. Attempt to look at each challenge as a new opportunity to try a different approach. Watch the results you achieve with each new idea you sample. Sometimes the best solutions are the simplest.

You don't have to be Albert Einstein or a genius to have an imagination.
