G-Sector is a 3d action game based around hoverboard combat--a hybrid between an "extreme game" and a third-person shooter. Players control the heroine Cyra as she hoverboards thru futuristic cities and arenas. Gameplay is based on using ramps and tricks to build velocity and avoid opponents' shots. Using a chasecam and customizable mouse/keyboard interface, G-Sector should be familiar to players of the 3D shooter genre.

    Strategies - backup @ 10:44 pm PST
You all remember the Starcraft Strategy Index right? Well, now we're back, but as a new completely redesigned site with tons of content. Not only do we have the Starcraft Strategy Index that boasts the highest amount of strategy links on the internet, but we also have Index's for other great games like Warcraft II, Diablo, Command & Conquer, and even action games!

Coming in at over 4100 strategies for over 37 games and a nifty little search feature that lets you see what exactly is for you in the pages and lets you find what you need, when you want it, easily.

Now, we need the communities help. We would like to hire 8-10 people to update strategies and add content. Each staff person must be very familiar with SSI & HTML. (SSI being Server Side includes for anyone who is scratching their heads). So you ask, what are the benefits of me coming to work for you. Well, for one you get to be a part of the GX Network (You know all those perty looking sites like Firingsquad.com with Fresh and oh so great Gamers Extreme & Gamers.com with Soso. Secondly, depending on how much work you do for us, you get paid! That's right, you get cash :) I can't give an exact amount because it depends on how much hits we get. So the more you do, the more you get paid, and the more traffic we bring in. Right now its per 1000 impressions for around 20-30 dollars. I'm pretty sure that means 1000 hits for 30 dollars. So if we get around 100,000 a month, hehe that adds up :).

The amount you will be getting from the advertising is anywhere from 2% if you do very little, all the way up to around 15-20% of the 50% I get.

We also have a nice little feature where you can submit your own strategies. I will be having a user submitted section for EACH game. So if you have a few strategies lying around for Diablo, Myth, or Starcraft, send em!

Your probably now saying, how do I sign up and what is the web site address. Here is the information for the site.

Please Submit all applications to DMystikaLD@earthlink.net giving a brief description on...

1.) How you can help us
2.) How often you can help
3.) How much stuff can you do.
    4.) Requested e-Mail Address

The Web Site Address is currently located at this url, but in a week or two will be relocating to http://www.StrategyIndex.com. Make sure you bookmark us!

    FF8 Preview Part 2 - Toxin @ 2:06 pm PST
CGO has posted Part 2 of their FF8 preview here is a little tidbit:

Although there's no "sure thing" in PC gaming, Final Fantasy VIII certainly comes close. It's a proven console hit with plenty of critical acclaim, successor to a previous popular PC title, eminently playable, beautifully presented, and with a storyline that would be right at home in a good fantasy novel or anime OAV series. Even if the folks at Square/EA manage to do nothing more than exactly replicate the Playstation version of this game on a PC, they'll have a major, and well-deserved, hit on their hands.

    War2 BONUS Map - Surebrec @ 12:36 pm PST
The first Warcraft2 Bonus Map has been released, called Beetle Island. It's a 128x128 Forest map for up to 6 players. Here's this one's description:

In a remote kingdom, the battle between the Orcs and Humans took place atop a huge creature. Created from the eldritch energies unleashed by Medivh during the birth of the Dark Portal, a giant, carnivorous beetle roamed the lands of Azeroth. Destroying ancient forests to satisfy it's voracious appetite and crushing all that stood in it's path, the beetle became a menace to both the noble armies of the seven kingdoms and the savage green-skinned invaders. In an awesome display of sorcery, the likes of which have not been seen to this day, the great creature was polymorphed by the mages of the Violet Citadel just as the Orchish Death Knights unleashed a massive barrage of Decay spells. The result was the death and transformation of the beast into what is now known as Beetle Island.

Once the greater threat was destroyed, the two armies quickly set upon each other again, of course...

The map is for War2: BNE, but is also compatible with War2: Tides of Darkness.

SC Map of the Week - Surebrec @ 12:34 pm PST
It's Friday, which means the latest SC Map of the Week has been released. It's a 192x192 Space Platform Map for 2-5 players. Here's the description:

In the chaos of the Zerg and UED invasions, their owners deemed many space platforms undefendable. These stations were hastily abandoned and standard operating procedure was to destroy the platform after the inhabitants were safely off to prevent the use of the structure by the enemy. A great many of these abandoned sites, however, escaped destruction. Gambling that the stations would be salvageable after the immediate crisis had ended, more than a few outposts were left intact as their owners figured that it was cheaper to refurbish the damaged platforms rather than completely rebuild. Pirates, bandits and smugglers looking for an out-of-the-way base for their criminal activities found these abandoned stations perfect for their needs. Perfect, that is, until the rightful owners came back...

PHL Relaunch! - backup @ 4:55 am PST

Poll Updated - Surebrec @ 12:21 am PST

Gearbox .plan updates - Surebrec @ 5:54 pm PST
Randy Pitchford from Gearbox Software has updated his .plan file with the latest stuff on Half-Life: Opposing Force and FRAG 3:

This weekend is the Frag 3 and Gearbox will be premiering the Half-Life:
Opposing Force trailer on the floor of the event on Saturday evening.

We'll also be showing a demo of the game there and Gearbox developers will
be available to answer questions in a Q&A session. Sierra's sent down a
ton of OpFor posters so I'll make sure we show up with pens if anyone wants
to get signatures from the team. We don't do this sort of thing very
often, so if you're a collector of game memorabilia, this will be a rare
    opportunity.

Also, if you're a member of the press and are going to be at the Frag 3,
please introduce yourself and I'll make sure you get a copy of the OpFor
demo sent your way. We've worked very hard to make OpFor an experience
that all Half-Life fans will love and are eager to show it off.

    See you there!

    Well there ya go!

Soul Reaver Reviewed - Surebrec @ 5:44 pm PST
Gamecenter recently slapped up a review on Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. Gamecenter has given it a 8/10 rating. Here's a little bit about the game from the review:

Soul Reaver revolves around the story of Raziel, Kain's first lieutenant, who is part of the vampire aristocracy that has enslaved the human race and now rules Nosgoth. Kain and his followers have evolved many times over the centuries, but it was always Kain who evolved first, with all the lesser vampires following him after a decade or so had passed. Raziel breaks this pattern--involuntarily, of course--by growing a pair of batlike wings before any such "gift" has come to his master, Kain. Subsequently, Raziel pays the ultimate price for offending Kain's vanity; Kain rips the bones from his living wings and has him cast down into fresh water, which burns his vampire flesh. This punishment is reserved for traitors and cowards, the lowest of the low.

If you're interested, you can download the demo over here, which weighs in at around 16.6 megs.

Mac UT Demo - Surebrec @ 5:31 pm PST
According to Blues News, a Mac UT Demo will be released tomorrow at 3dfxgamers.com. Here's the stuff on it:

3dfx Interactive Inc. announces that its 3dfxgamers.com site, the place for all things Voodoo, will host the exclusive premier of Unreal Tournament for Macintosh, later today (10/29). Unreal Tournament for Macintosh will be featured on the site for an exclusive engagement, allowing Macintosh Voodoo owners to play the game online, or download the game for offline play.

The launch of Unreal Tournament for Macintosh reaffirms 3dfx's commitment to its Mac user base by bringing one of the most highly-anticipated games of the year to the Macintosh community.

In conjunction with the launch of Unreal Tournament for Macintosh, 3dfx will feature interviews with Kathy Tafel, partnership manager, games worldwide developer relations at Apple Computer, Mark Adams, president of Westlake Interactive, and Bryan Speece, director of Macintosh business development at 3dfx.

BTW, if you still haven't downloaded the demo, we will be mirroring the v348 Demo on the site for you to download.

Weekly CPU Prices - Surebrec @ 5:14 pm PST
Although this isn't entirely gaming related, it is somewhat. Sharky Extreme has posted this week's CPU Prices. So if you're lookin to upgrade sometime this week, check out these prices. If you're going for something cheap but fast, you could get an Intel Celeron 550 PPGA for around $124, or if you want speed and have the money, go for the Pentium III-600/100 for around $458, which has gone down $117 since last week.

    AOE2 Demo - Surebrec @ 1:29 pm PST
Gamespot has slapped up the demo for AOE2: Age of Kings. The demo weighs in at 48.6 megs, and includes a Training Campaign, a Sample Random Map Game, and 4 player Mutli Player support, which is supported by MSN Gaming Zone.

    AOE2 Review - Surebrec @ 1:17 pm PST
Thresh's Firing Squad has recently posted a phat review on AOE2, which was recently released by Microsoft and Ensemble. Firing Squad gives it a "stamp of approval", so obviosuly the game must be good, and gave it a 4.5 of 5 stars. The review comes along with more than 10 swank screenshots. Still not interested? Damnit, here's what they have to say:

Age of Kings represents the pinnacle of traditional RTS games. This isn't just AOE 1 rehashed with a new thing or two and put into a new box. Age of Kings is a clear step up from its predecessor with some great new features that really add to the game. AOK is as addictive as crack, but at the same time, as refined as a 30 year old cognac. Package all that into a drop dead gorgeous graphics engine and it's easy to see that Ensemble and Microsoft have a real winner on their hands; AOK is going to be around for a long time. I've been burned out on Starcraft and thought I'd never touch another RTS game again with all the Quake 3 playing around here. AOK has changed my viewpoint, and this will definitely be one of the select few games I will continue to play after the review. If you're a RTS fan then you owe it to yourself to grab a copy of Age of Kings - it's the first RTS game to win Firingsquad's Editor's Choice award.

    Thegamerz.net - Surebrec @ 1:03 pm PST
Thegamerz.net, a new site, are in need of some staff members to help out with the site. They need a co-webmaster, CGI scripters, news posters, and some game reviewers. Even though the site looks half-done, it will officially open on November 1st. So go give Thegamerz.net a visit.

    New SC.org Affiliate - Gibb @ 12:39 pm PST
Starcraft.org. who is known for rarely affiliating with any site, has affiliated with ClanWars. Here's what they had to say about it
ClanWars is home to a style of tournament which, so far, has been above and beyond anything we have see before. A graphical map of a galaxy in which 6 teams can compete and fight over. Invading and defending different sectors of the map which have different resource values and game maps to be played on. Clan Wars have several impressive features that similar sites lack. Elaborate yet easy to use interface, multiple popup screens, computer AI advisors, detailed statistic windows, resource management and time factors to name only a few of the features provided.

What makes the games at ClanWars.com really amazing however is that it is the only site in existence in which the clans themselves can host and create their OWN ClanWars game anytime and invite other clans to join in! These clan-hosted games can be put up in a matter of seconds, can have the rules slightly adjusted and come complete with full administration features! Not only that but they are planning to offer other, more conventional types of tournaments seen hosted elsewhere by other websites. These include 2v2 tournaments, ladder brackets and single player elimination tournaments which the clans will be able to host themselves.

Now only if they'd affiliate with GameSurge!

Ultima Ascension Preview - Surebrec @ 6:59 pm PST
Gamespot has posted a preview on Ultima Ascension. This is the ninth installment in the Ultima series and has been in development for quite a few years. Here's a little clip:

At the same time, Ultima IX: Ascension promises to weave an epic plot, filled with memorable characters with believable intentions and motivations, into a classical tale of good versus evil. This final showdown between the Avatar and the mysterious Guardian marks the culmination of two decades of computer role-playing games, and so Origin has every intention of making Ultima IX as satisfying a conclusion to this important series as possible.

Human Head's Tim Gettitsen informs us that the game is coming along nicely as the mountainous areas are being polished before building the forested sections of the game. Gerritsen says, "We have some more tech surprises up our sleeves for [the forested] portion of the game that we aren't ready to talk about just yet, but we hope people like what they see."

First i2e2 Sanctioned Starcraft Event! - Pyro Man @ 3:18 pm PST
The first Sanctioned i2e2 StarCraft Event, a French Starcraft Tournament will be held in Paris, France on October 24. i2e2 is proud to be working in conjunction with the LFC (Ligue Francaise des Cyberathltes) in sanctioning this event.

i2e2 Sanctioning means that i2e2 has approved the tournament format and rules, and that players will earn i2e2 Rankings Points by participating. According to points totals calculated from the major StarCraft events in recent history, X'Ds~Grrrr... is in the lead, dominating the rest of the StarCraft field. He will be attending the France event, along with Thor and about 120 other contestants.

In addition to points earned for individual wins over both unranked and ranked players, points will be awarded according to the finishing place of each competitor. And to dispel any concerns about one player just attending every event and racking up points, only the top 6 events for any player will count towards their total points.

The significance of the rankings will be to determine the top players in the StarCraft community who will automatically qualify for special invitational tournaments hosted by i2e2 in mid-late 2000. Anyone interested in registering with i2e2, or interested in more information about either Event Sanctioning, registration for players, rankings, or general information about i2e2 may visit the i2e2 web site. Full rankings and guidelines will be posted in the very near future.

No more EQ auctions - Surebrec @ 12:18 pm PST
ZDNNews is reporting that 989 Stuiods is banning EQ props from being sold online. People have sold lots of EQ money for over $500 and level 50 characters for even more. From what I hear, the reason they banned this is that "The move aims to head off complaints of fraud and bid padding in the wake of several postings claiming that groups of players were colluding on eBay to artificially raise bids." Damn, people could make a living off of this. Now they gotta find a new job :).

UT Bugs... more... - Surebrec @ 12:14 pm PST
Along with my bug, comes more bugs from the UT Demo - Known Bugs page. Here's the latest (and hopefully last) stuff:

  • Direct3D

One TNT2 user running the 2.08 detenator drivers sent a whole lot of screenshots with extreme mipmap corruption - textures were totally messed up in the distance but were perfect when you got up close to them. This went away when he upgraded to the newly released 3.53 drivers on [007]Nvidia's site.

  • AI

Although Steve added new unique configurations for individual bots, the user.ini file didn't ship with the new configurations in place (which explains why you probably won't notice any difference).

  • There ya go.

Another UT Bug? - Surebrec @ 12:11 pm PST
Well I was playing UT last nite against a few bots and with the new 348 patch, and I noticed that when running it in Direct3D (I have a ATI Rage Pro) some of the decals are corrupted, such as the gun smoke and the blood. They turn into red(blood) or grey(smoke) square blocks. That happened before with Half-Life but somehow I fixed it. Anyways, it's not that big, but I hope that can fix it.

UT Map of the Week - Surebrec @ 12:00 pm PST
The Unreal Tournament website has been updated with the newest UT Map of the Week, called DOM-Condemned. Here's the short description it comes with:

The many gang related fights that ravaged this particular area have already proven this section of the city slums to be an bloody battle ground. The Liandri organizers are expecting this to be the case once again, only this time, as a tournament domination arena.

Next Generation of CPUs - Surebrec @ 11:56 am PST
Thresh's Firing Squad has a feature on the Next Generation of High-Performance CPUs. It talks about the powerful processors around and/or coming out soon, and also talks about how good and bad some CPUs are compared to others.

    SOF T&L - backup @ 6:30 am PST
Raven's code guru John Scott has updated his .plan yesterday with a huge rundown of the nVidia GeForce 256. Its a large update. Here is a clip.
This is definitely where SoF in limited. The CPU has to perform lots of calculations to work out where to place a vertex on the screen. This can either be done by the driver or by the game. We use the OpenGL transforming for ease, and although it maybe a little slower on a vanilla machine, it enables the driver writers to optimise for SSE or 3dNow! instructions transparently, and allows us to automagically take advantage of hardware T&L. The GeForce acts as the equivalent of a parallel Pentium processor running at about 2GHz (source : nVidia) which purely handles the transforming and lighting, thereby offloading a major chunk of work the CPU had to do to a custom much faster processor. In practice this means a much faster game.

The downside of this is you are limited by the transform speed of the card, so if you have a 3GHz processor in your machine, you may actually have a performance hit :) Then again, feeding the card enough verts to make this noticable would choke the AGP bus completely. I think I would be fairly confident in saying this will not be a problem for some time to come.

More did you know - backup @ 6:27 am PST
Did you know that Tribes 2 will reccomend around a 1ghz processor? That is WITH the GeForce... Though they are also trying to make it easier to run on older machines.

Did you know? - backup @ 6:26 am PST

New QTracker - backup @ 6:25 am PST
Version 2.3 Beta 11, of QTracker, the server browser/MP3 player/HTML list generator has been released. This new one adds bug fixes for the ShoutCAST system and Quake II Master servers. Remember Qtracker? Yeah sure you do. It was like the most popular launcher back in the days of Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. Grab it here.

More UT Bugs - Surebrec @ 3:27 pm PST
Well, looks like there are more bugs to be fixed. I hope they release another patch soon. Here's the stuff from the UT Demo Known Bugs page:

  • Direct3D

[addition to the first item on TNT1/2 etc with less than 128MB]: Update: I've just tried the newly released 3.53 Detenator drivers on my TNT2 machine, and played with all the D3D advanced options, and the drivers still appear to be page-locking around 16-20MB of physical RAM. If you find settings which improve the situation, please drop us an email at utbugs348@epicgames.com.

  • Networking

People are reporting netplay is laggier or they are experiencing more packet loss with this version. The netplay code has not been changed. This is because there are not that many servers running at the moment (200 vs over 400 before). Server operators *please* upgrade!

  • Audio

A3D weapon sounds are reported to be a lot more muffled sounding in A3D than in the previous release. We are looking into this.
The loud buzzing sound in the DM-MorpheusDemo map with 3D sound enabled is still there - sorry, we forgot to update this map for the demo release. The offending sound has been removed for the full version of the game.

  • Visuals

The "predator" style crosshair has a red box around it if you set your crosshair color to have any red in it. This corrupted texture has been fixed.

SC Map of the Week - Surebrec @ 3:08 pm PST
The latest Starcraft Map of the Week has been released. It is a 192x192 Desert map for up to 8 players. It's a trigger-driven map. Here's the description:

"The most popular exercise in the Ghost training regimen is scenario A11-X93, commonly referred to by trainees as "Nukes Away". In this scenario, Ghosts practice a variety of covert infiltration techniques while gaining the technical knowledge necessary for the proper guidance of field-standard tactical nuclear weapons. Since nuclear weaponry is too expensive to be used in live fire training, the exercise is performed using an extremely lifelike holoprojection simulation. The competition between the teams of Ghosts can be extremely intense, and all too commonly we see recruits spending what little leisure time they have inside the simulation, honing their skills."

Age of Wonders preview - Surebrec @ 6:17 pm PST
Gamespot also has a preview of Age of Wonders which is to be released in November of this year. Here's a little clip to get you interested:

Age of Wonders takes place in a chaotic fantasy world teetering on the edge between darkness and light. At the start of the game, the Elven kingdom that had maintained a balance between good and evil has been shattered by the onslaught of a younger race called Man. The Elves survive and split into two factions, a mirror image of good and evil in conflict. In the campaign, the good Elves, called Keepers, seek to reestablish balance. The Cult of Storms seeks only Dark Elven supremacy. Meanwhile, ten other races strive to fill the power vacuum left by the sundered kingdom of Elves. Thus, this Age of Wonders is an age of war.

Horror Games - Surebrec @ 6:14 pm PST
Gamespot has updated their Ten Spot section with a new TenSpot feature on the top ten games which would make good horror games. Here's a snipet:

But games like Men in Black and Johnny Mnemonic stand as cautionary tales. This is not to say it can't be done. Aliens vs. Predator was a good example of a game that took movie monsters, combined them with game concepts, and succeeded in making an entertaining game that stands on its own merits. But why do so many good movies make bad games? Jan Lindner, vice president of research and development at Mindscape/Mattel, says, "Basically the two mediums are very different. Movies really tell one story one way to an audience. In games, it's told two ways, and translating between the two is where it fails."

More UT Bugs - Surebrec @ 6:02 pm PST
The UT Bugs Page has been updated with some of the more recent bugs from the first page:

    Direct3D
    * Some Rage FURY users are having problems with game in D3D. We are looking into this.

    Input
    * Some versions of the Intellimouse Explorer drivers don't allow you to bind the middle mouse button if DirectInput is enabled. We believe this is a driver issue - other games exhibit the same behavior. You can work around it by using the Intellimouse Explorer software to map a key (eg shift) to the middle mouse button and bind that key in UT.

Right from the start I was plunged into a detailed evolving storyline that had me, Locke D'Averam (the Revenant), being resurrected from the dead to rescue a powerful warlord's daughter. But Locke remembers nothing of his previous life, and must gather clues along the way. That's just the start. The inventive plot takes Locke through huge forests, haunted ruins, dark caves and much more.

The latest version of Jumbot has been released, upgrading it to version 0.9. If you didn't know, Jumbot is a bot mod for HL, which of course adds bots to the game. Here's the new stuff:

-Bots now use secondary crossbow fire if they're far enough away.
-Added a bot_checkdistance cvar to allow users to set if bots should be able to see enemies at any distance or a limited distance (defaults to limited).
-Added a bot_distance cvar to allow users to set a specific value which determines how far a bot can see.
-Various bug fixes in the AI.
-Fixed a bug where pain detection would cause bots to select bad enemies (which could actually cause crashes on some levels).
-Changed a model precache problem which was probably causing the bad index of edict error on some computers.

SC MOTW - Falcon @ 5:50 pm PST
Hey, the first time no one here has beaten me to it... This weeks map is Turtle Island.
The universe is home to some rather odd geological formations that create a rich tapestry for astrologers, whether professional or amateur. On 20th Century Earth, for example, people could swear that there was a face on the surface of Mars. The location of the rocks and the eerie placement of shadows made envisioned mouth and eyes seem all too real. A prominent mountain range on the planet of Uilel IV looks just like a snake winding its way across the surface of the planet. One of the strangest of these planetary anomalies is found on an island just off of the main continent on Mar Sara. Explorers who first saw the island mistook it for a gargantuan turtle -- initially a cause for great alarm. Closer inspection quickly revealed the true nature of the landmass, but to this day nearby residents still call the place "Turtle Island."

UT Level of the Week - Surebrec @ 5:08 pm PST
The latest UT Level of the Week has been released called The Last Command, which is a CTF map. Here's a little snipet of it:

The Last Command is a fully functional Nuclear Processing Station owned by the Liandri Corporation. This facility's system originated layout makes an ideal proving grounds for Capture the Flag Tournament matches. High tech voluminous industrial architecture paired with curving maintenance corridors means fighting here will require quick reaction times if your team plans on surviving.

As always, this one includes some cool-lookin screenshots.

Nocturne is Gold! - Surebrec @ 4:33 pm PST
Nocturne has recently gone gold! Here's what the game is about:

The game puts the player in a classic 1930's pulp action adventure and creates a world of shadows, suspense and terror in which the paranormal and supernatural threaten mankind. To counteract these menaces, President Theodore Roosevelt created the Spookhouse, a special investigation bureau to which the player's character belongs. There are four global missions to tackle, a cemetery in France; a ruined castle in Germany; a small, Texas town; and the back-alleys of Chicago.

Age of Empires: AOK Review - Surebrec @ 10:51 pm PST
PC.IGN has posted a review on Age of Empires 2: AOK. Here's a little snipet of it:

At first glance, Age of Empires II still appears to operate very much like its predecessor. Each round revolves around collecting as many of the four basic resources (wood, food, gold and stone) as you can and using them to build an army to destroy your enemy. The units that you build this army out of are, with one new exception, still split into four basic types – cavalry, archers, infantry and siege engines. As you advance through the various ages, you'll have the power to improve each one of these four unit types with new technologies and training styles, but for the most part, they still serve the same purpose on the battleground as they did in the first game. And, as in the last title, these technologies are simply purchased with resources gathered from the surroundings rather than requiring any sort of scientist units or buildings.

War in Europe Mod Features - backup @ 11:36 am PST
Here is a little something I grabbed from their page on what the mod is about. It looks really good (its for Half-Life) and you should get it tonight at 10 when it comes out.

Overview War in Europe is a Multiplayer World War II based mod. In the game you have the ability to choose from either the Axis or Allied. You also have a menu in which you have the ability to choose a primary weapon which you will have until you decide to change. In order to obtain perticular weapons players must achieve a certain frag limit in which then the weapons will become available. Other features include a ranking system which can either promote players or demote players once again based on your "frag vs. death" status. So for example if your frag limit exceeds your death limit by 3 then you are promoted to Seargant.
Maps War in Europe features maps with various architexture ranging from the destroyed villages of Normandy to the bloody beaches of Omaha. Other maps include Nazi "Work Camps", V2 Rocket sites, ect ect. All will include true to life scenery that would have been common during the WW2 period.

Weapons Each team has a certain ammount of weapons that they have at their disposal, so Allied and Axis weapons are not usable by both sides. All weapons are modeled after historical World War 2 makes of small arms. Some of these include the American Standard M1 Garand and the German Mauser.

Future What lies ahead for this mod? You can expect to see more and better weapons as well as levels and other cool features.

More information about this mod, the place to be tonight, and screenshots can be obtained by visiting their website here.

Flight Simulator Goes Gold - ImPaLe @ 9:16 am PST
    Flight Simulator 2000 Goes Gold

Flight Simulator 2000 has gone gold and is scheduled to start showing up on store shelves in the U.S. in mid-October and mid-November in Europe. For the first time, Microsoft is offering two versions of the product: a professional edition designed to meet the needs of flight simulation enthusiasts and pilots, and a regular version for new or more casual users.

Features include several new aircraft, such as the Concorde, the Boeing 777-300, the Mooney Bravo and the Raytheon-Beech King Air 350. The product also contains more than 21,000 airports worldwide, including cities such as London, Paris, Manhattan, Chicago and more. GPS provides point-to-point navigation, and the title utilizes the Jeppesen database of real navigation and airport information, used by pilots around the world. Users can also download current worldwide weather reports and have the simulator automatically duplicate those conditions in the simulation.

Armored First 3 Cheat - Surebrec @ 5:45 pm PST
I'm too lazy to make another post, so here it is straight from my inbox from 24 Hour Gamer:

I only have one cheat for you concerning this game, but it's a sweet one. To enable a mode where you can see all the missions the game includes (without having to beat every single one), copy the file named 'slot01.dat' to your 'AF3' directory and run it. After you do this, you should be able to play the game and see all the missions except for two hidden missions, which leaves some surprise in game.

    Asheron's Call preview - Surebrec @ 5:28 pm PST
Gamespot has posted a Asheron's Call Preview by Microsoft. From the looks of the game, it really resembles EQ. The game is supposed to be out in the 4th Quarter of '99. Here's a clip of the preview:

Asheron's Call is a 3D online-only RPG built around the persistent world of Dereth. There's big trouble brewing in Dereth, as a magician named Asheron inadvertently opened a portal to another world. A vicious race known as the Olthoi rushed through, forcing Asheron's people - the Empyrean - to seek shelter in a hidden dimension. After helping the Empyrean escape, Asheron put out a call across time and space, looking for adventurers to come to Dereth and fight the Olthoi. There is more to the game's back story -much more, in fact - but from this basic setup you can see the premise: You enter the world as an adventurer answering Asheron's call.

The 64-bit SledgeHammer, designed to compete with Intel's new Itanium, represents a change in strategy for the company. Rather than copying Intel, AMD is introducing a chip that is not compatible with software written for chips made by its larger rival. Intel's Itanium is expected to debut in the second half of 2000, while AMD will not launch its chip until 2001.
